Real Madrid escape in Copa del Rey
|
SEVILLE, Feb 11 (SW) - Real
Madrid have reached the final of the Copa del Rey despite a 1-0 defeat in and
against Sevilla, in the south of Spain.
The
final scored of the match was the result of a goal scored in the very first
minute by Antonio Lopez. Sevilla however failed to score again to go into extra
time, as the current Spanish champions won the first leg last week with 2-0.
Each team had one player sent off the pitch by the referee for an early shower.
Surprisingly for Real Madrid, this was Zinedine Zidane in the 45th minute, which
means that he will be missing the final, and for Sevilla, Javi Navarro was
expulsed in the second minute after the interval.
The opponents of Real Madrid in the final will be known tomorrow when Zaragoza
and Deportivo Alaves play their second leg, after the first had ended with a 1-1
draw.
