Bayern's Injury Troubles
|
German giants, Bayern Munich, are having many injury woes as they approach
their much-anticipated clash with Real Madrid in the Champion's League.
Inspirational goalkeeper and club captain, Oliver Kahn is not completely
fit and Ottmar Hitzfeld, Bayern's coach, has recently stated "I'd give
Kahn a 50% chance, but we'll do everything to get him fit" as both him and
midfielder Michael Ballack missed their club's victory over Hamburg this
past week.
The ex-Leverkusen star also missed Germany's 2-1 friendly win over Croatia,
and is also doubtful for the club's game in Europe, as he has had a case
of Bronchitis.
Although it is known that Ballack is training Hitzfeld has mentioned, "It's
still questionable whether he can play."
The squad has other injuries in Robert Kovac and Claudio Pizzaro, as Kovac
has a bruised thigh while the Peruvian front man has a swollen ankle after
being injured in training. Though last season's golden boot winner Roy
Maakay and Roque Santa Cruz have not been at their best of late, they may
just save Bayern against a Madrid side that is one of the favourites to
take the Champions League title this time round.
