MADRID, March 27 (Reuters) - Real Madrid midfielder
David Beckham made the squad for Sunday's Primera Liga game against Sevilla,
giving the England captain a slim chance of playing in next week's friendly
against Sweden. Beckham missed a Real training session on Friday because of
heavy bruising to his right leg sustained during a 4-2 win over Monaco in the
first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
Real said on their website that Beckham returned
to light training on Saturday but a final decision about whether he would face
mid-table Sevilla would be taken on Sunday.
The club has said that if Beckham did not make
the Sevilla match he would travel to England to be checked over by FA medical
staff but would not play against Sweden.
France international Zinedine Zidane was also
included in the Real squad despite concerns over a knock to his right leg.
Sunday's match at the Bernabeu is a crunch game
for Madrid, who hold a fragile one-point lead over Valencia at the top of the
Primera Liga and are only six points ahead of Barcelona with nine games still to
play.
Sevilla are the only side to have beaten Real
twice this season -- once in the Primera Liga and once in the semi-finals of the
King's Cup. |
