MADRID, April 13 (Reuters) - Spanish champions Real Madrid
will head to a luxury resort for three days of secluded training before
Saturday's derby clash with Atletico Madrid after fans taunted the team
following a string of humiliating losses.
Fans jeered Real's players at training on Tuesday and held
up offensive signs after the team relinquished the leadership of Spain's
Primera Liga following a 3-0 home thrashing by Osasuna at the weekend.
In recent weeks, Madrid's "galaticos" have also tumbled out
of the Champions League at the hands of unfancied Monaco and lost the final
of Spain's King's Cup to struggling Zaragoza.
With six league games to play, Madrid have 67 points, two
behind league leaders Valencia.
"I understand that people are angry. Madrid fans always want
to win," Real's Brazilian defender Robert Carlos told a news conference. "From
Saturday onwards it will be a different story. We are hoping for a big
victory against Atletico Madrid."
Madrid will use the exclusive La Manga resort in the
southeastern region of Murcia where three Leicester City players were
accused of sexual assaulting three women last month.
"The team is calm. We understand the fans but we are doing
our job. We still have a good chance and there is no reason for alarm,"
Carlos said, dismissing criticism from fans and the press about the
allegedly extravagant lifestyles of some players.
"I am 31 years old and no one is going to tell me what to do
in my private life or in my days off," he said.
