Brazil was next to secure
the second victory in a row with just one minute to play, when
Argentinian referee Horacio Elizondo gave a doubtful penalty, enabling
Chile to obtain a drawing with 60 seconds to go in the World Cup
qualification match played in Santiago on Sunday. Luís Fabiano scored in
the sixteenth minute for Brazil, in a doubtful offside position, while
Navia drew in the 44th minute. Brazil had a first scoring chance in the
12th minute with a shot by Ronnie which was saved by goalkeeper Tapia.
The Brazilian goal followed immediately. After this result, Brazil is
still on top of classification with 13 points, one ahead of Argentina
and two of Chile and Paraguay. Brazil will play their next match on
September 5 against Bolivia at Săo Paulo’s Morombi arena. |
