LIMA, July 26 (Reuters) - Peru made a profit of
around $2 million on this month's Copa America tournament, organisers said on
Monday.
"Adding up the gate, sponsorship income worth around $800,000 and excluding $3.5
million spending by the organisers, we are left with a profit of $2 million,"
Irzio Pinasco, a senior member of the organising committee, told Reuters.
That does not include $20 million spent by Peru on improving the seven stadiums
in which the matches were played.
Brazil won the 12-nation tournament on Sunday with a thrilling 4-2 win over
Argentina on penalties.
Peru were knocked out in the quarter-finals but the stadiums were still 70
percent full and the gate was $4.7 million, Pinasco said. |
