England midfielder David Beckham and
defender Francisco Pavon are included in Real Madrid's 20-man squad to
face Olympique Lyon away in their opening game of the Champions League
Both players were substituted due to injury during Saturday's 3-2 home
defeat to Celta Vigo and missed training on Sunday, though their
injuries are not considered serious. Beckham suffered a bruise to his
thigh, while Pavon, whose withdrawal gave new signing Sergio Ramos his
Real debut, was treated for a sore toe.
Club captain Raul, who is suffering from back pain and only came on in
the second half on Saturday, is also included.
With France midfielder Zinedine Zidane injured and Brazilian
striker Ronaldo suspended coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has called up youth
team midfielder Ruben de la Red and striker Roberto Soldado as cover.
