MetroFanatic.com first
reported the news that Red Bull New York and Ronaldo have mutual
interest in each other.
"Red Bull is committed to dramatically upgrading this team, and that
means bringing the best players in the world to New York," said Red Bull
New York President and General Manager Alexi Lalas to Goal.com. "If
Ronaldo is such a player, then you can bet he's a target."
However, the news comes with a caveat. "It's all long term thinking,"
Lalas remarked.
Ronaldo currently is under contract with the Merengues until 2008, but
he has not hidden the fact that he feels unsettled at the club and
underappreciated by the fans. El Fenomeno could be among the first
players shown the door this summer by new President Fernando Martin but
it could be a little too soon for Ronaldo to sport the kit of the New
York Red Bulls. |
