In spite of being used to making the list of the ones called up to make
the Brazilian team, Ronaldo could not hide his feelings when he heard
his name being announced, among the 23 players called up by coach Carlos
Alberto Parreira, for the World Cup of 2006.
The attacker watched it on television from his home, in Madrid, and this
reinforced his hope to conquer the title for the 6th time, in Germany’s
2006 World championship.
He made enthusiastic comments.
"Parreira put together a strong and consistent team. We have everything

At 29 years of age, Ronaldo reaches his fourth World Cup with an
astonishing curriculum. He has been a champion twice (94 and 2002) and
vice champion in 1998. His personal performance is also mind boggling:
He scored 12 goals in 14 matches and he is two goals short of becoming
the top scorer in the history of the World Cup.
"I am not thinking of personal achievements. Of course that I like to
break records and to leave marks in my history with the Brazilian and
World soccer... but to be a champion is already a great honour."
Ronaldo, top scorer of the last World Cup , scoring eight goals, has
played 105 matches with the jersey of the Brazilian team and has scored
67 times, with the expressive average of 0,64 per match.
