Brazil are keeping their fingers crossed
that star striker Ronaldo will be fully fit in time for the team's World
Cup opener against Croatia on June 13 The Real Madrid ace struggled in
training on Thursday in Weggis, Switzerland, where Brazil are preparing
for the World Cup. "I'm having muscular pains but any sacrifice is
worthy for the national team," he said. Brazil boss Carlos Alberto
Parreira said: "He is motivated and we're doing everything so the team
will be at the top level after the third World Cup match." Milan
defender Cafu had injury problems this season and needed a knee
operation in late February but he looks to be in good shape. "I'm fully
fit," he said. "I've managed to recover successfully." Over 5,000 fans

through their paces on Thursday. Brazil's Ronaldinho, meanwhile, is
hoping to build on yet another magnificent campaign which saw him
capture a second straight Primera Liga title and a Champions League
crown. He says the atmosphere in the Brazil team is terrific. "This
moment is marvellous," he said. "We're trying to profit from every
second and it motivates me a lot to keep on working to be in form for a
long time." Brazil also face Australia and Japan in Group F. |
