Ronaldo is very motivated. On
Wednesday he touched the ball for the first time since falling injured
and since then has been giving signs of his speedy recovery and of his
imminent return to squad discipline. He took extra shots on target this
morning with Cassano, to later jog on his own.
The Brazilian wants to pick up top form as soon as possible. On his way
back to perfect form, he was unlucky enough to get injured again due to
a knee twist during the Ecija King's Cup return match, where he even
scored a goal. His recovery was expected to lag on as much as a month's
time, but Ronaldo's hard work has brought the deadline closer.
He has not only overcome his knee problems, he also wants to make it to
the squad list against Valencia. He knows well that Capello rewards his
player's efforts, so he has worked extra hard this week to make it to
the match. Today, he worked harder than ever, doing extra shooting
exercises and physical workout. The 30 minutes of scheduled shooting
practise was not nearly enough for him, so he decided to work for
another 15 minutes, joined by Cassano and goalkeepers Casillas and Diego
López and supervised by Capello.
Work didn't end there for the Brazilian striker. He talked to recovery
expert José Luis San Martín in order to do some more exercises, which
the coaching staff member agreed to do. They consisted on jogging drills.
Ronaldo ended training exhausted on his way to the dressing room. We'll
have to wait for Saturday to see if the Brazilian is rewarded by his
coach and makes it to the call-up. He has proved he is dying to go to
Valencia.
