Real Madrid came from a goal down to notch
a 2-1 victory over 10-man Athletic Bilbao on Sunday at the Bernabйu.
The struggling Basque side took a shock lead in the 35th minute when a
free kick by Luis Prieto flew into the net past Iker Casillas, sending
the hosts to the break down a goal.
Bilbao did well to hold onto that lead past the hour mark, but Madrid
found the equalizer on 64 minutes when striker Ronaldo got into the area
and tucked the ball beneath the goalkeeper.
Roberto Carlos then fired Madrid into the lead with nine minutes to go
when he hit a rocket shot from just outside the area, but Casillas had
to make a big save on Andoni Iraola in the 87th minute to preserve the
win.
