Ronaldo's late double saved the day for
Real Madrid in their Champions League Group E match with Dynamo Kiev
which ended 2-2
Uzbekistan international striker Maxim Shatskikh netted a double in the
first half but Ronaldo scored twice in the last five minutes to earn a
point.
Dynamo remained bottom of the table with two points from six matches,
while Real finished second with 11 points though they had already
qualified for the knockout stages before the match.
Shatskikh put Dynamo 1-0 up in the 13th minute after redirecting Marjan
Markivoc's right-handed cross into the net from close range.
Five minutes later, Real striker Antonio Cassano missed a clear chance
for an equaliser as his attempt was denied by Dynamo keeper Alexander
Shovkovsky.
In the 27th minute Shatskikh made it 2-0 for Dynamo, sending home a
rebound after Real keeper Diego Lopez deflected his initial shot.
After the break, Real poured forward in attack trying to reduce the
arrears and in the 53rd minute David Beckham missed a chance for a goal,
when his powerful 20-metre shot hit the post.
But in the 86th minute Ronaldo scored his first, firing the ball home
after a well-served corner. Two minutes later Ronaldo netted his second
of the match from the spot after the hosts fouled him in their box.
