Speaking after his side ensured qualification for the next
round of the Champions League with a 1-1 draw at Benfica, Carlo Ancelotti
assured the Rossoneri faithful that the ‘twinge’ that forced Ronaldo to postpone
his European debut for Milan was really just a twinge.
The Brazilian superstar has had a real nightmare of things with injuries of
late, and there was definitely that ‘not again’ sense when, Ronaldo suddenly was
the focal point of attention from the Milan medic just as he was set to come on.
“Ronaldo felt a twinge during the warm-up and still wanted to go on, but
considering Clarence Seedorf’s ankle wasn’t in good shape I opted to play it
safe,” explained Ancelotti. “Ronaldo is fine and will be available for Saturday.”
The Rossoneri boss then looked ahead to the mouthwatering clash against old
rivals Juventus this weekend.
“We have a game on Saturday that will certainly be tough, as Juventus are in
good shape and we have to recharge our batteries very quickly, otherwise we
could run into problems,” he warned.
“Having played six home games and not won any of them in Serie A this season,
I’d say this is an excellent opportunity to end that run."
Saturday’s nights match is of vital importance to Milan, as anything less than a
win will seriously jeopardize their ability to even just qualify amongst the
Champions League places. |
