Rescheduled clash in Bergamo finds Phenomenon in fine vein of
form
On 11 November 2007, following five long months sidelined by injury, Ronaldo was
due to make his much awaited comeback for AC Milan against Atalanta. However,
following the tragic death of a Lazio supporter, the game was cancelled.
On Wednesday night, he will finally get his chance to make that trip to Bergamo
as the two teams face each other in the rescheduled fixture.
If back in November Ronaldo was chiefly concerned with getting some playing time
under his belt, he now has a different target: to continue his fine scoring run.
After two fine displays against Napoli and Udinese, which produced two goals,
the Phenomenon has firmly reasserted his claim for the centre forward’s jersey
in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven. And he will go into Wednesday’s game
confident that he can add to his tally, and continue what has been a burgeoning
partnership with his young compatriot Alexandre Pato.
AC Milan are currently in ninth place in Serie A and need another victory in
Bergamo to reinforce their challenge for a Champions League qualifying spot. The
Rossoneri currently have 24 points, 10 points behind fourth-placed Fiorentina.
